Day 4 - Wednesday, January 6th

Luke 10:38-42

Jesus Visits Martha and Mary
38 As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. 40 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” 41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Mary clearly understood that it was more important to set her sights on Jesus than it was for her to be preoccupied with the mundane. Focus on what God is saying, on where God is wanting to take you and what He’s wanting to do in your life. Jesus wasn’t more present to Mary than He was to Martha, His presence wasn’t greater on one side of the house than it was the other. Mary in this instance had a greater awareness and perspective for where she needed to be and for what Jesus wanted to say.

God isn’t great for one time of your life and then not so great the other times; God is great everyday. It’s your awareness & perspective that needs to shift toward Jesus. Jesus will take your mess and make it a masterpiece so don’t stay focused on the mess, Jesus isn’t worried about your mistakes, He’s focused on you. In 2016 make a decision to shift your focus past your own life and look towards a life in Christ.

Day 3: Tuesday, January 5th

"Love where God has placed you." -Pastor Tyler Howell

Jeremiah 17:8 states, "They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit."

You are planted right where you need to for you to flourish. Loving where you are planted is more than learning to enjoy where you are in life; it's realizing that where you are right now is good soil for a great harvest. The seeds you are sowing now determine the harvest you will eventually reap. Choose to be planted. Choose to recognize that God is working ALL things for good and His glory. As you stay planted, you grow into the tree that God means for you to be.

Day 2 - Monday, January 4th

"Satan knows your name but calls you by your sin; God knows your sin but calls you by name." -Pastor Gary Howell

Exodus 33:17 gives us a glimpse into the heart of God for us as God speaks to Moses by saying, "I look favorably on you, and I know you by name." The Lord knows every detail of our hearts. He sees our past and future wrongs - yet, He chooses to call us by name; not our sin.

Rest in knowing that God sees where you are. He knows what your facing. God will never lead you to a battle where victory isn't inevitable.
